More bands will be unveiled over the next few months. Previous headliners at the festival have included The XX, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips, The Cure, Massive Attack, The National, Aphex Twin and Squarepusher.
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds are playing a host of festivals over the coming months, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California in April, Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Optimus Primavera Sound in Porto and the Open’er Festival in Poland in July.
The band recently played songs from their acclaimed new album, ‘Push The Sky Away’, at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
Nick Cave also took part in an ‘In Conversation’ session covering his life and career as part of the festival.
Speaking at the Austin Convention Center with New York based author Larry Ratso Sloman, the Bad Seeds frontman admitted that he first joined a band in order to get “girls and booze”, telling the packed out audience that “it actually works!”
He explained that before he started singing he was an “anti-magnet” to the opposite sex. “In school I was an anti-magnet for women. They saw me and they were repulsed,” he said, adding that when he started up The Boys Next Door – later The Birthday Party – “things immediately changed in terms of my attractiveness”.
