Nickelback cancel North American tour dates

Band are forced to axe 'No Fixed Address' jaunt after Chad Kroeger is diagnosed with a vocal cyst

Nickelback have cancelled their North American tour after frontman Chad Kroeger was diagnosed with a vocal cyst.

The band had cancelled gigs over the weekend but tonight (June 23) announced that they have axed the remaining dates on their ‘No Fixed Address’ tour due to Kroeger’s ill health.

He said in a statement posted on their official website Nickelback.com: ”I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans. I am relying on my doctor and his team to help get my voice back in good form as quickly as possible.”

The band also posted a video apologising for the cancellation of their tour which you can watch below.

Kroeger is expected to begin his surgery in three weeks and has been ordered by doctors to rest until he starts the treatment.

It is thought he will make a full recovery in time for the European leg of the tour, which starts in Lithuania on October 14.

Meanwhile, a recent study said that Nickelback’s lyrics were more intelligent than those of Foo Fighters and Linkin Park.

The study, conducted by Andrew Powell-Morse of Seatsmart, analysed lyrics in 225 songs that had spent at least three weeks at Number One in Billboard’s pop, rock, country and hip-hop charts. His findings suggest that pop songs have the average reading level of an eight-year-old.
