President Obama responds to Nicki Minaj’s Republican endorsement

The US leader says the rapper 'likes to play different characters'

President Barack Obama has spoken out over Nicki Minaj‘s claims that she’ll be voting Republican in the forthcoming US election.

Minaj endorsed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in a new song titled ‘Mercy’, a collaboration with Lil Wayne on his ‘Dedication 4’ mixtape. In it, Minaj says: “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy bitches is fucking up the economy.”

Speaking to the Florida radio station Power 95.3 this morning (September 10), reports Billboard, Obama responded by saying:

“Yeah, I’m not sure that’s actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that. But she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there.”

In the interview he also said that his two daughters aren’t big fans of Minaj, claiming: “I don’t think they really listen to Nicki Minaj that much, but let’s face it, they are now hipper than me. There’s a certain point where your kids get old enough where they’re hipper than you are.”

Minaj has also criticised Obama’s government over healthcare reforms, after actress Yvette Wilson died of cervical cancer while struggling to raise healthcare costs.

“What’s sad is that when Yvette was bringing home the bacon, the gov’t was probably taking millions. On her deathbed though, #Nowheretobefound,” she tweeted.

That should be a God given right! Even with Obama Care, too much involved. Just give FREE health care to all. @BarackObama what can we do?

Ironically, if elected, Romney promises to undo Obama’s healthcare bill and return to a market-driven, paid-for system. On his website, Romney states: “President Obama’s trillion dollar federal takeover of the US health care system is a disaster for the federal budget, a disaster for the constitutional principles of federalism, and a disaster for the American people.”
