Nine Inch Nails play first Stateside show in four years at Lollapalooza

Trent Reznor and co preview material from new album 'Hesitation Marks'

Nine Inch Nails played their first North American show in four years last night (August 2) at Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.

The Trent Reznor fronted band headlined the Bud Light stage at the festival and played a number of tracks from their forthcoming new album, ‘Hesitation Marks’, which is set for release on September 3. Both ‘Find My Way’ and ‘Copy Of A’ – which were previously unveiled at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan last month – were included in their set, with Reznor introducing the former track by simply saying: “This is something new.”

Reznor, who was dressed in his typical stage uniform of a black sleeveless top and spoke little during the show aside from to frequently thank the audience, said after ‘Only’: “Thank you for having us back. It feels like only yesterday.” The biggest crowd reaction, however, was saved for 1989’s ‘Head Like A Hole’ and 1994’s ‘Closer’, both of which drew mass singalongs, as did set closer ‘Hurt’, which was famously covered by Johnny Cash.
