Nirvana and Courtney Love lead emotional tributes to Kurt Cobain on 24th anniversary of his death

"The universe always rips open on this day"

Nirvana and Courtney Love have paid emotional tributes to Kurt Cobain on the 24th anniversary of the iconic singer’s death.

The Nirvana frontman took his own life at his own home in Seattle, Washington on April 5, 1994 at the age of 27.

Posting on Twitter, Love shared a heartfelt photo of her late husband, alongside their daughter Frances Bean.

“The universe always rips open on this day, those ocean blue eyes. We miss you”, she wrote.

A similarly heartfelt tribute came from the official Nirvana Twitter account, who wrote “We miss you”, alongside a photo of Cobain sitting on a backward chair.

Yesterday also saw Frances Bean Cobain taking her first foray into original music, sharing a new song in a since deleted Instagram clip.

The clip sees Cobain sing: “I think I saw you when I was small/ I think I found you/ A penny for your good thoughts/ I think I found you/Jesus hangs in your place on the cross/ All these hinges become unscrewed/ Heaven knows it was a cage on earth.”

She captioned the post: “There are so many memeable moments in this clip… I’m SUPER restless because I can’t play guitar with long nails so I’m just sitting in my room alone singin to mah self”.
