Spice Girls reportedly planning their comeback with TV series

Mel C and Victoria Beckham are thought to be distancing themselves from the project

The Spice Girls are reportedly planning their comeback with a three-pair TV series, but it won’t see the return of all five members.

The Sun reports that Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell are planning a TV series that will document the story of the band’s rumoured comeback, ahead of a 20th anniversary tour next year.

But it’s now believed that Melanie Chisholm has opted out of the project, after Victoria Beckham reportedly confirmed that she wouldn’t return for the band’s 20th anniversary.

A source told The Sun: “The Spice Girls comeback is the big story in pop so it’s no wonder the girls want to maximise their popularity.

“There is certainly a big audience for it. BBC, ITV and Sky will no doubt be fighting it out for the rights.

“The girls are always good value, so there will be plenty of material.”

It’s believed that the documentary will incorporate highlights of the band’s iconic heyday alongside footage of their reunion -taking inspiration from the TV show that Take That filmed ahead of the beginning of their hugely successful reunion in 2006.
