‘British Invasion’ legend dies

Dave Clark Five member passes away aged 63

Dave Clark Five member Denis Paytonhas passed away aged 63.

Payton died on Sunday (December 17) after a long illness.

He played saxophone, guitar and harmonica in the band.

In a statement Dave Clark said: “He had an amazing philosophy on life and will be greatly missed by me and all who knew him. Denis was extremely brave and not afraid of death.”

The Dave Clark Five were part of the Great British Invasion of the 1960s that saw UK bands enjoying success in the US.

The band were nominated for induction into the US Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Fame for 2007, Reuters reports.
