Britney Spears spent $2.7 million in legal fees in less than a year

Up to six lawyers at a time rep her estate in court

Britney Spears has spent $2.7 million dollars in legal fees in less than a year, according to court documents.

The singer’s estate has been represented by at 17 lawyers and law firms since her father assumed conservatorship of her affairs just over a year ago.

Records filed in a Los Angeles court yesterday (March 23) show that the millions were paid out of Britney’s fortune, with more costs to come as the conservatorship remains in effect.

A report in today’s Los Angeles Times says that as many as six attorney’s at a time have showed up in court to represent Spears.

The high cost of the conservatorship was justified by one of Jamie Spears‘ attorneys Geraldine Wyle, who said: “Since the initiation of the conservatorship, as a result of the concerted efforts of Mr. Spears as well as all the professionals involved, all aspects of Ms. Spears‘ life have been stabilized and continue to improve.”

Among the cash Spears forked was almost half a million dollars in legal fees during her divorce and custody case with Kevin Federline.
