Ornette Coleman collapses at Bonnaroo

Jazz legend hopitalised in Tennessee

Ornette Coleman collapsed yesterday (June 17) during his performance at Tennessee‘s Bonnaroo Festival.

The 77-year-old jazz legend and recent Pulitzer Prize recipient suffered from heatstroke and was immediately taken to a medical tent and given intravenous fluids.

He was then brought to Coffey County Hospital and released in stable condition later that evening, according to a Bonnaroo spokesperson.

Coleman, who is known as a pioneer of free jazz, has several UK and European dates scheduled later this summer.
