Tegan and Sara launch new album with free LA show

Amoeba Records overflows with fans

Tegan and Sara launched their new record with a free show at Amoeba Records in Los Angeles yesterday (July 24).

Hundreds of fans showed up, many of whom were turned away after the store reached capacity.

The twin sisters performed tracks from their new album, ‘The Con’, which was released Stateside yesterday. They played the album’s title track as well as ‘Nineteen’ and ‘Burn Your Life Down’. They also played several older songs including ‘Monday Monday Monday’, ‘Living Room’ and ‘Walking With A Ghost’.

“Thank you so much for coming down…this is by far the best release day we’ve ever had,” Tegan told the adoring crowd. “We love you Tegan! ” an enthusiastic fan shouted back.

Hunter Burgan from AFI, who plays bass on the new album, made an appearance on the shaker at the mostly acoustic show.

At the end of their 55-minute set, the sisters announced that they wouldn’t leave the store until they met everyone who wanted to meet them. They spent the next three hours meeting their fans and signing autographs.
