Jean Eavis, wife of Michael Eavis has died on the eve of one of the biggest Glastonbury Festivals ever...
JEAN EAVIS, co founder of the Glastonbury Festival with husband Michael, died yesterday from cancer at their home in Somerset aged 60.
Michael and Jean had the idea of staging a festival at their dairy farm after visiting the Bath Blues Festival in 1969; it was attended by just over 1,000 people.
Recent Glastonbury attendances have reached over 100 times that number.
Jean was a familiar and much loved figure at the festival and her death will come as a blow to husband Michael, who had planned to retire after Glastonbury 2000.
