Derbyshire duo unveil first new material since debut album ‘Drenge’ at their London Scala show

Drenge played three new tracks at a sold-out NME Awards show, with Austin, Texas at London’s Scala last night (February 20).

The new songs were the thrashy, chugging ‘Running Wild’, previously played at last year’s Reading Festival, the grinding ‘The Snake’ and melancholy, bluesy number ‘Standing In The Cold’.

Their set, which drew largely upon songs from last year’s self-titled debut album including ‘Bloodsports’, ‘Backwaters’ and ‘I Wanna Break You In Half’, saw intense moshing throughout the night, with one shirtless stage-diver circling Eoin and Rory Loveless before jumping back into the crowd. At the climax of penultimate song, singer Eoin Loveless approached his brother’s drumkit and doused him with a can of beer.

The band are also set to play at the NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas ceremony alongside Metronomy, Belle & Sebastian and Godlike Geniuses Blondie, and have been nominated in the Best New Band supported by Mossimo category.

Drenge played:

‘People In Love Make Me Feel Yuck’
‘Face Like A Skull’
‘Necromance Is Dead’
‘Running Wild’
‘Gun Crazy’
‘Dogmeat’
‘I Wanna Break You In Half’
‘The Snake’
‘Bloodsports’
‘Nothing’
‘Backwaters’
‘Standing In The Cold’
‘Let’s Pretend’
‘Fuckabout’
