Duo will release their collaborative 'This Is Christmas' LP on November 21

Emmy The Great and Ash frontman Tim Wheeler will team up to release a Christmas album later this year.

The couple, who started working on the yuletide LP in December 2010, will release ‘This Is Christmas’ on November 21. You can hear the album’s first track ‘Christmas Day (I Wish I Was Surfing)’ on their official Facebook page.

Speaking about the album, Wheeler said: “I’m a sucker for all kinds of Christmas songs from carols to Nat King Cole to ’70’s glam rock classics and ’80’s guilty pleasures, and it felt like a good time to contribute something new to the genre.”

The album, which Wheeler and Emmy The Great began recording last year after they were stranded in Sussex after missing several scheduled flights due to heavy snowfall, will feature nine original tracks and an as-yet-unknown Phil Spector cover. Tracks set to appear on the album include ‘Mrs Christmas’, ‘Home For The Holidays’ and ‘Sleigh Me’.

Earlier this week, Editors‘ frontman Tom Smith and former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows revealed that they had also collaborated on a Christmas album. The pair, who will go under the moniker of Smith & Burrows, will release ‘Funny Looking Angels’ on November 28.
