Future responds to Desiigner comparisons in new interview

The rising rapper has faced accusations that he is imitating Future

Future has shrugged off claims that rising rapper Desiigner is imitating him.

The Kanye West protege has been accused of copying Future’s style of rapping and has courted controversy by naming one of his songs, ‘Pluto’, also the name of the Atlanta rapper’s 2012 album.

“I never worried about anyone else… I don’t even want his name in the article,” Future told Rolling Stone, when asked about the ‘Panda’ rapper in a recent cover story.

Desiigner has similarly dismissed claims of similarities between him and Future.

“I actually laugh at it, there’s nothing to get upset about. I compliment the man about his creativity. I think he’s a great artist and I do what I do; I just say we’re both blessed in our ways,” he told Fader, earlier this year.

Earlier this month, Future announced that he has dropped a lawsuit against singer Ciara after being awarded joint custody of the couple’s son, one-year-old Future Jr.

Ciara had been suing Future – real name Nayvadius Wilburn – for defamation for £10 million after he called her a bad mother in April. Future counter-sued, saying he couldn’t defame Ciara because she no longer had a career to speak of.

Future, who split with Ciara in 2014 while she was pregnant, said that he had “a change of heart” after being awarded joint custody, with Ciara also dropping her lawsuit in a bid to make Future Jr’s upbringing as cordial as possible.

Future also recently unveiled the video for new single ‘Wicked’, taken from his surprise ‘Purple Reign’ mixtape released in January.
