Biffy Clyro joke: ‘Simon Cowell gave us a reach-around!’ – video

Band chat at Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony

Biffy Clyro‘s Simon Neil has joked about how the band’s song ‘Many Of Horror’ came to be re-worked by The X Factor winner Matt Cardle last year.

The band were chatting at the Shockwaves NME Awards on Wednesday (February 23), where they won the Best Live Band award. Watch the interview by clicking above.

Asked how the X Factor hook-up came about, Neil joked that music mogul Simon Cowell had given the band “a wee reach-around”. He added: “We said, ‘Well, you know, you’ve got two hands and you’re not doing anything, so how do you fancy it?'”

Neil also said he was still suffering after hurting himself leaping from a speaker stack at Glastonbury last June.

“My knees are never going to be the same again,” he said. “I feel like an old man. They’re still totally jiggered and fucked. But it is worth the pain every night. Live music is a gift.”
