Arcade Fire have admitted they still haven’t got the hang of award ceremonies, as they picked up two trophies at the NME Awards USA in Los Angeles (April 23).

Speaking to NME.COM, after winning Best Indie/Alternative International Band and Best Indie/Alternative International Live Band, drummer Jeremy Gara said only he had attended the ceremony at the El Rey Theatre as it was all too alien for his bandmates.

“I feel weird, out of my element a little bit, but it’s nice,” he explained. “This is truly bizarro world for any of us, hence why I’m the only one here.”

He added, he was unsure about NME‘s iconic single middle finger award too.

“It’s gross,” he joked, “but it’s a nice gesture!”
