The Killers guitarist Dave Keuning dedicated their wins at NME Awards USA in Los Angeles (April 23) to rock legend Lou Reed.

Having perhaps picked up awards for the Band Of The Year and Best Indie/Alternative Track awards – the latter for ‘Tranquilize’, the group’s collaboration with Reed – the guitarist declared he was going to phone the Velvet Underground man immediately.

“We haven’t told Lou yet that ‘Tranquilize’ won,” explained frontman Brandon Flowers. “Dave is going to ring him and tell him the news in a minute.”

Warming to his role as messenger, the guitarist drunkenly declared: “He won’t know what to think, when he gets this! It’s all for him. Have we got a message for the fans too? Yeah! ‘Thanks for all the stuff you’ve been through with us and don’t leave me’.”
