High Flying Birds man joins forces with City's Belgian skipper to show off their new strip
Noel Gallagher has helped his beloved Manchester City launch their new kit for the 2012/13 Premier League season.
The former Oasis man, who is an outspoken fan of the club, has teamed up with Manchester City’s captain Vincent Kompany, posing with the Belgian international for a series of photos in the club’s new strips.
It is the second time that Gallagher and Kompany have teamed up recently, after the Belgian skipper introduced NME’s Godlike Genius onstage last month at Rock Werchter Festival in the footballer’s native country.
Kompany, who became the first Manchester City player to lift the Preamier League trophy earlier this year, also seems to be on good terms with Gallagher’s younger brother Liam, after he lent him his private box so Liam could enjoy the team’s 1-0 win over bitter rivals Manchester United in April.
Liam Gallagher said of Kompany at the time: “He [Kompany] invited me to his box. He scored a blinder, his family is mega and his sister is really cool. Nice one bro. Vive le Belgium.”
Meanwhile, two previously unreleased Noel Gallagher tracks appeared online last week.
The songs, which are titled ‘God Help Us All’ and ‘It Makes Me Wanna Cry’, were recorded during a soundcheck from one of Gallagher’s recent shows.
‘God Help Us All’, though unreleased, has existed for some time, with Gallagher previously telling NME that he planned to release that and another track titled ‘Revolution Song’ later this year.
He said of ‘God Help Us All’: “I’m going to finish that one as well. I have got little bits of songs knocking around that I have managed to finish off as I’m not in the band anymore. All in good time”.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds embark on a UK tour in September. He will also play the iTunes Festival on September 12 at London’s Roundhouse.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are also playing at this year’s T In The Park, which is taking place July 6-8 in Balado Park, Kinross. To check the availability of T In The Park 2012 tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.
