Noel Gallagher: ‘Somebody told me I’ve got hair like Phil Spector’

NME Godlike Genius winner also bumps into Kasabian on his travels

Noel Gallagher has revealed a fan in the US mocked him for having hair like jailed music producer Phil Spector.

The ex-Oasis chief, who is currently touring America with his band the High Flying Birds, wrote about the incident in Ohio in his ‘Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere’ scribblings.

He said: “I’m just stood at some traffic lights waiting to cross the street when some guy slopes up to me and says, ‘Hey man I don’t mean to disrespect you’, [now that usually means you’re about to be disrespected] but you do realise you got a little 80s thing going on with your hair there?’

“‘You look like that… who was that motherfucker producer who shot that bitch in the face? ‘Phil Spector! You look like Phil Spector!’ Seriously that just happened to me.”

Spector is currently serving a 19-year jail sentence for the murder of model Lana Clarkson in 2003. The US Supreme Court recently rejected an appeal by Spector against his 2009 murder conviction.

Meanwhile, Gallagher also said he bumped into Kasabian during his travels.

He added:

Have a guess who checked in to this hotel this morning? Only blimming Kasabian. What are the odds on that? Unbelievable.

Meanwhile, Gallagher is set to release a new EP next month, which is titled ‘Songs From The Great White North’. The EP, which contains four tracks in total, will be released on 12′ vinyl to celebrate this year’s Record Store Day, which happens on April 21.

It is made up of his recent B-sides and includes his recent collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous ‘Shoot A Hole Into The Sun’ as well as previous offerings ‘The Good Rebel’, ‘Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me’ and ‘I’d Pick You Everytime’.
