High Flying Birds man meets his favourite footballer for lengthy chat
Noel Gallagher‘s interview with his Manchester City hero Mario Balotelli has been posted online.
The High Flying Birds man recently met with the striker for BBC programme Football Focus, and the resulting interview is now streaming on BBC.co.uk/sport/.
During their chat, Gallagher – who has often spoke of his fondness for Balotelli and regularly dedicates songs to the footballer during his live show – asks him about his career, his reputation with the media and whether the stories about him giving a tramp £1,000 which he won in a casino and returning a bullied young boy to his school are true.
In next week’s issue of NME, the former Oasis chief has written a column explaining why Balotelli is his personal hero. Previously, he told NME that he should receive his own Godlike Genius award – the same gong Noel picked up at the NME Awards last month (February 29).
“There’s absolutely no question that he should get it,” he said. “He’s cosmic soul brother number one.”
He also recently told NME: “OK he’s a footballer, but I bet if he picked up an instrument he’d be fucking amazing. He restores your faith in human nature! I’m so proud he’s playing for Manchester City.”
