Ex-Oasis man also discusses Fabio Capello and Wayne Rooney's performances with England in South Africa
“Since the year leading up to the European Championships and subsequently from that they [Spain] have been amazing,” he said.
Gallagher is due to attend the match in Johannesburg, which he predicts will be won and lost in midfield.
“The key part of the pitch is can [Nigel] De Jong and [Mark] Van Bommel stop [Andres] Iniesta and Xavi doing the business,” he added.
Gallagher also discussed the future of England manager Fabio Capello following the team’s last 16 thrashing by Germany, suggesting that although the Italian should stay in charge in the short-term, the FA should look closer to home for his replacement.
“I think England desperately need an English manager. They have to get Harry Redknapp sooner or later. He seems to be the only person who could inspire the players to play,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney “played like he had been hypnotised” during the tournament, the guitarist added.
Gallagher has offered his opinions throughout the tournament – after England’s 0-0 draw with Algeria on June 18 he claimed Capello had “turned into some kind of silly wizard” during an appearance on James Corden’s World Cup Live chat show.
