Noel Gallagher: “I don’t know anybody as rich as me”

Ex-Oasis man talks "living in the moment"

Noel Gallagher talks wealth and entering his fifties in a new interview.

The ex-Oasis guitarist released his new High Flying Birds album ‘Who Built the Moon?’ today (November 24). Read the NME review here.

“I don’t know anybody who’s as rich as me,” Noel told the BBC in a recent interview, adding: “Apart from my wife, of course.”

Noel turned 50 in May, with brother Liam sending him a birthday message on the day. There had been reports that Noel was celebrating his 50th with a “cocaine and Narcos-themed party”.

Now, he has told BBC of the occasion: “We toasted the end of my forties and sang in the start of my fifties. If my fifties are half as good as my forties then my sixtieth will be something else.”

“I take each day as it comes, live in the moment,” Noel added. “There’s not a great deal that I strive for except greatness. Not many of us get there, but the water’s good once you get in, it’s nice and warm.”

Meanwhile, Noel has shared an amazing anecdote about meeting Matthew McConaughey and dismissed claims he sounds like Ricky Martin.

Earlier this week, Noel dismissed claims he’d “coordinated” his album release with Liam for “publicity”. He stated: “It’s slightly annoying. My shit is not reacting [to Liam’s album]. It’s not reactionary on that level to anybody’s.

“When your record’s ready, it goes, and that’s the end of it, and if it’s near to the other fellow’s, then that’s it,” he said.
