THE ITALIAN JOB

nme.com will bring you all the news as it happens live from Milan...

Anticipation is mounting in MILAN as the hours count down to Oasis first gig with their new-look line-up tonight (May 30).

nme.com is already in Italy and will bring you the first reports live from the Filaforum.

But the band have already been spotted out and about in the city over the weekend.

They arrived in Milan four days ago, and according to sources in the city, have been rehearsing in a small disco called ‘Jungle’.

On Sunday night, Gem, Andy, Alan and Matt were reportedly seen at a Bob Dylan gig in the city’s Palavobis venue.

A scheduled appearance at MTV Total Request Live this afternoon, meanwhile, is believed to have been cancelled while the band concentrate on their soundcheck.

nme.com will bring you updates as soon as we have them and we will deliver the lowdown on the gig as soon as it happens tonight.

Meanwhile fans on nme.com‘s dedicated Oasis messageboard have expressed support for Noel Gallagher, who celebrated his 32nd birthday yesterday and has flown out to his villa in Ibiza to join wife Meg Mathews and their daughter Anais since declaring his decision to quit playing overseas dates with the band.

One fan calling themselves WhatsPlanB has written: “Oasis will still be around… and if not, I’m still going to listen to their albums, I’m still going to be a fan of all those who were in Oasis… No more of this backstabbing of the band or Noel. If you believe and support Oasis they still have a big, fighting chance.”

Come back to nme.com tonight then and find out whether the band still pack a punch without Noel.
