BONEHEAD AND WELLER UNITED IN MANCHESTER

The ex-Oasis guitarist introduces the Modfather onstage...

Paul Weller further cemented his friendship with the ex-members of Oasis by inviting former guitarist PAUL ‘BONEHEAD’ ARTHURS onstage to introduce him at his MANCHESTER APOLLO show at the weekend.

Weller was playing the first of two nights at the venue (May 6) as part of his UK tour. Bonehead came onto the stage before Weller‘s set and said: “I’m Bonehead from town, and this is Paul Weller.” Weller then took to the stage and played his set.

Bonehead‘s introduction comes only days after Weller allowed ex-Oasis bassist Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan onstage at his show at the Reading Rivermead Centre (April 25), where he also introduced him.

Both Bonehead and Guigsy were at the Manchester date, and sources close to the pair revealed to nme.com that this is the first time they have been out socially since they quit Oasis within weeks of each other in August of last year.

An eyewitness said: “They came down in the afternoon, hung out together backstage and got on really well. It was really good to see them out together, they both seemed relaxed and happy.”

As previously reported on nme.com, Weller has been friends with the Oasis lads past and present for a number of years and has worked with them on many occasions, contributing guitar to the song ‘Champagne Supernova’ on the band’s second studio album ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’.

Weller still has a handful of dates left to play on his UK tour, calling at: Aston Villa Leisure Centre (May 9 & 10)Glasgow Barrowlands (12 & 13) Edinburgh Playhouse (14) Towerlands Braintree Arena (17) Bournemouth International Centre (18) Cardiff Arena (19)

He is also confirmed to play at the Witnness Festival, at County Meath, Fairyhouse Racecourse, Ireland on August 5-6, the V2000 Festival at Weston Park, Staffordshire, and Hylands Park, Chelmsford on August 19-20 and the Glasgow Green Festival on August 25-26.
