Oasis gear up for Manchester homecoming show

Band set to kick of UK tour with Heaton Park gig

Oasis are preparing to kick off the first of three hometown shows at Manchester‘s Heaton Park tonight (June 4).

The dates mark the beginning of Oasis’ UK summer tour, which will see them playing a host of outdoor arenas, including three nights at Wembley Stadium in London next month.

Liam and Noel Gallagher and their bandmates will take to the stage following support slots from Twisted Wheel, Reverend And The Makers and Kasabian.

The Enemy had been set to play a support slot, but were replaced by Reverend And The Makers after the Coventry band’s frontman Tom Clarke was struck down with food poisoning.

The Enemy are still scheduled to play a support slot at the second and third Heaton park shows on Saturday (June 6) and Sunday (7).

Check NME.COM after the show for a comprehensive report of the gig, with a photo gallery of the show also set to come.

Two roads, Bury Old Road and Sheepfoot Lane, will be closed at 9:30pm (BST) tonight to cope with the influx of fans heading to the park.

The road closure has prompted officials to advise local residents to vote in today’s European Parliamentary Elections early, so as not to have access to polling stations cut off.

Meanwhile, on what is proving a busy day for Oasis, Liam Gallagher also launched his clothing label, Pretty Green, this morning.
