Band enjoy massive first day album sales

Oasis sold nearly 90,000 copies of new album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ after its release yesterday (October 6), making it one of the year’s fastest first-day sellers.

The band’s seventh studio album had sold 89,434 copies by the end of the day.

According to midweek figures, at close of business yesterday the album was outselling the current Number One, Kings Of Leon‘s ‘Only By The Night’, by nearly five units to one.

It means the band are a virtual certainty to be Number One on Sunday (October 12).

Meanwhile Oasis kick off their UK tour tonight (October 7) in Liverpool, at the Echo Arena. Stay tuned to NME.COM for a full report.
