Tegan And Sara reignite feud with Odd Future’s Tyler, The Creator

Tegan Quin says rapper 'can't defend how he behaves'

Tegan and Sara have reignited their war of words with Odd Future‘s Tyler, The Creator, arguing that the controversial rapper “can’t really defend how he behaves”.

The Canadian duo traded blows with the hip-hop star earlier this year over his apparently homophobic lyrics. After Sara Quin posted a blog about his ‘vile anti-gay slurs’, Tyler responded by suggesting the openly gay duo “need some hard dick”.

Now six months on, Sara’s sister Tegan has commented on Tyler again after the band were removed from the bill at New Zealand’s Big Day Out festival over their homophobic lyrics.

Speaking about their spat with Tyler, Tegan told Spinner.com:

Tyler’s response [to Sara’s blog] was perfect, because it articulated that he doesn’t actually have a statement to make. He can’t really defend how he behaves and what he says.

She continued: “There’s a double standard when it comes to misogyny and sexism and homophobia, and I think it’s shameful that people in our industry put out his music.”

Homophobia isn’t the only controversy the rap collective are dealing with that the moment – earlier this week band member ‘Left Brain’, real name Vyron Turner, was charged with assault after he allegedly slapped a female photographer.

Snapper Amy Harris opted to press charges against the rapper, who is accused of striking her at the Voodoo Experience festival in New Orleans last month (October 30).
