Former 'X Factor' contestant's third album 'Right Place Right Time' enters in at Number One in UK Album Chart
Olly Murs has scored a chart double as his third album debuts in at Number One in the UK Album Chart, while ‘Troublemaker’ holds on to the UK Single Chart top spot.
The former X Factor contestant, and current host of the ITV’s show spin-off The Xtra Factor, follows in the footsteps of One Direction, Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams, who he will support on a 2013 stadium tour, by having both an album and single at Number One at the same time.
The album, titled ‘Right Place Right Time’, is the singer’s second Number One album and sold an impressive 127,000 copies in its first week, making Murs 2012’s fastest-selling solo artist, according to the Official Charts Company.
Elsewhere in the Official UK Album Chart, One Direction’s ‘Take Me Home’ holds on to the Number Two spot while last week’s chart-topper Rihanna is down two to Number Three with ‘Unapologetic’. Michael Buble’s ‘Christmas’ is at Number Four and Rod Stewart’s seasonal effort, ‘Merry Christmas Baby’, completes the Top 5.
Of the eight new entries this week, only two, in addition to Murs, made it into the Top 10. They are ‘The Very Best Of Neil Diamond’ (8) and Girls Aloud‘s new greatest hits compilation ‘Ten’ (9).
In the Official UK Singles Chart, Olly Mur’s ‘Troublemaker’ holds firm at the top of the chart while Bruno Mars’ ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’ and Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ return to the Top Three after they both appeared on last weekend’s X Factor. Their tracks are at Number Two and Number Three, respectively.
Meanwhile, Labrinth holds on to the Number Four spot for another week with his collaboration with Emeli Sande, ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’, and Alicia Key’s ‘Girl On Fire’ is at Number Five.
