One Direction’s Liam Payne criticises Justin Bieber: ‘How many times have I been arrested?’

Payne was reponding to Bieber fan tweet

One Direction‘s Liam Payne has responded to a Justin Bieber fan’s Twitter taunt by pointing to the Canadian pop star’s history of run-ins with the law, Billboard reports.

When the Belieber tweeted him directly, asking, “Isn’t it kinda depressing for you to know that Justin Bieber will always be more successful than you?,” Payne responded with the quip, “How many times have I been arrested?”

Bieber’s legal history is well documented, and includes being charged with careless driving and resisting arrest, assaulting a limo driver, and egging a house. The ‘All That Matters’ singer recently apologised for his wild antics after a host of stars lined up to mock him during an appearance on US show Comedy Central Roast, which is due to air in the US on March 30. Rappers Snoop Dogg and Ludacris were among those to take jovial digs.

“He may have turned 21, but Justin will always be a baby to me, since babies [urinate] everywhere and never know when to shut up,” joked Ludacris.

Following his roasting, the singer apologised for his behaviour. “I’ve turned a lot of people off in the last few years,” he said. “But I know I can still put out good music and turn everything all around. There was really no preparing me for this life. I was thrown into this at 12-years-old.”

Bieber added: “There were moments I am proud of. And there are moments I am disappointed with myself for. But the things I have done don’t define who I am.

“I am a kind-hearted person who loves people. And through it all, I have lost some of my best qualities. For that, I’m sorry. I am looking forward to being someone you can all be proud of.”

One Direction are currently on tour in Asia, minus Zayn Malik. The singer left Hong Kong last week so he could fly back to the UK to be with his family.

A spokesperson for the band told the Mirror: “Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta.”
