One Direction’s Niall responds to full-band reunion rumours

Pop group's website was recently updated with new merch and a "future events" section

One Direction‘s Niall Horan, who surprise-released his first solo single today, has responded to rumours of an impending full-band reunion.

The latest wave of reunion speculation gathered after the group’s official website was updated with new merch and a “future events” section – even though the pop outfit are currently on hiatus.

Asked about the unexpected website update during an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1, Horan replied: “I don’t know what happened there, but yeah, for the foreseeable, you know, we’re just taking a break and kind of doing our own thing.”

He then added, perhaps encouragingly for fans: “I definitely won’t rule that out because it’s the best thing… Our lives wouldn’t be the same.”

During the interview, Horan also explained why he decided to surprise-release his new single ‘This Town’ before his debut solo album is finished or even has a title. “I wanted to kind of let people know that I was up to something so they didn’t think I’d just fallen off the face of the earth,” he said. “That’s the only song that’s actually fully finished.”
