Zayn Malik claims self defence after clashing with One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson on Twitter

Malik sided with producer Naughty Boy during Twitter spat with Tomlinson

Singer Zayn Malik has hit out at his former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson via Twitter, telling the boyband star to stop “making bitchy comments” about him.

Malik quit the pop group in March following press reports regarding his love life, writing in a statement that he wished to be “a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight”.

Malik was later spotted in a recording studio with producer Naughty Boy, who proceeded to post a link to a new demo called ‘I Won’t Mind’, allegedly recorded by the pair.

Now, Naughty Boy and Tomlinson have been embroiled in another feud via social media, which started yesterday (May 6) when the producer posted a picture of himself and Malik along with the caption “Replace this”. “How does it feel to be riding on the back of someone else’s career?” Tomlinson replied, before Naughty Boy responded that Tomlinson has “been doing that for the last five years”.

Malik soon stepped in, tweeting directly to Tomlinson, “Remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?”. See the tweets in question below.

Malik justified his actions with a post this morning (May 7), writing “Don’t know why I’m being attacked for defending myself , people got it twisted! I love my fans ?! Every single one of you x”. Tomlinson also tweeted to thank his fans for their backing, “Our fans support really has been a different class ! Huge love to you guys !!”.

Noel Gallagher recently labelled Zayn Malik a “fucking idiot” for quitting boy band One Direction. He said, “I’ve never met [Malik]. I’ve only met Harry [Styles], who orbits in social circles where sometimes we end up at the same parties. Harry’s not got a great deal to say for himself, but he’s a good lad! For Zayn, though, I’d say, ‘Fuckin’ get a good accountant because life is very fuckin’ long’.”

Gallagher added, “It’s a strange thing for that lad to have done at that age. The greatest quote was – I laughed out loud when I read it ‘ ‘I just want to be a normal 22-year-old.’ Pfft. Who wants to be a normal 22-year-old?! Hang on a minute. You can be fucking anything that moves and gettin’ paid half a million dollars a week, you fuckin’ idiot. You want to be a normal 22-year-old? Have you met any normal 22-year-olds? They’re fuckin’ shit-for-brains. What are you talking about, you fuckin’ idiot?”
