The announcement follows news that the duo will also be heading up the Coachella bill
Outkast have announced another headline festival slot for this year.
In addition to heading up the bill at Coachella alongside Muse and Arcade Fire, the reunited duo will play New York’s Governors Ball festival, which takes place June 6-8 on Randall’s Island, reports Rolling Stone. The rest of the festival’s line-up will be announced over the next few days and tickets go on sale next week.
Last summer’s Governors Ball saw Kayne West premiering material from ‘Yeezus’ after the first day of the event was suspended due to unsafe weather conditions, meaning Kings of Leon had to rearrange their opening night headline set. Guns N’ Roses also topped the bill.
OutKast went on hiatus in 2007 and have not performed together since 2004, each enjoying solo success in the subsequent years. This year is the 20th anniversary of the pair’s 1994 debut album ‘Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik’.
Coachella takes place across two weekends this spring – April 12-14 and April 19-21 – in Indio, California. Also on the bill are Motorhead, Queens Of The Stone Age, Beck, Lana Del Rey, the Knife, Foster The People. New acts include Haim, Lorde and Disclosure, who will play alongside Skrillex, Nas, Kid Cudi, ASAP Ferg and this week’s NME cover star Chance The Rapper.
