OUTKAST lead the nominations for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards.

The R&B outfit are in the race for five nominations, closely followed by Black Eyed Peas, Franz Ferdinand, Maroon 5, Jay-Z, and Britney Spears, who each have three nominations.

Black Eyed Peas are in the running for Best New Act, Best Alternative Act and Best Act UK & Ireland nominees.

The awards ceremony, which is to be held in Tor Di Valle, Rome on November 18, will also feature performances from veteran rap trio [/a], who are also up for Best Group and Best Hip-Hop.

Swedish outfit [a], who are up for Best Alternative Act, will also play a live set while Eminem will give a worldwide exclusive of his new single ‘Just Lose It’.
