Weller guests on new single by Erland And The Carnival

Paul Weller has teamed up with Simon Tong, the former guitarist with The Verve, to guest on Tong’s current band Erland And The Carnival’s new single.

Weller plays guitar and sings backing vocals on ‘Quiet Love’, the first single from Erland And The Carnival‘s new album ‘Closing Time’, which is released on August 25. The video for the track can be seen below. Tong said of the song: “It has a slight George Harrison feel, and it helped sway us to add strings to the album.”

‘Closing Time’ was recorded at Damon Albarn‘s London studios 13. Tong joined Blur after Graham Coxon quit in 2002, as the guitarist on their ‘Think Tank’ album and tour. He later joined Albarn in The Good, The Bad And The Queen for their self-titled album in 2007.

Tong formed Erland And The Carnival with Orkney-based singer Erland Cooper in 2010. ‘Closing Time’ will be their third album and is previewed with a one-off gig on August 7 at London’s Servant Jazz Quarters.
