The Libertines' frontman performs solo show in Tel Aviv
Pete Doherty covered The Smiths, The Beatles and The Stone Roses at a solo gig in Israel last night (April 30). See above to watch fan footage of his version of The Smith’s ‘Ask’ now.
Doherty was performing at Barby Club in Tel Aviv with the setlist filled with cover versions. As well as ‘Ask’, Doherty also performed ‘Happiness Is A Warm Gun’ by The Beatles, The Stone Roses’ ‘Waterfall’ and ‘Psycho Killer’ by Talking Heads. The fan who filmed the footage claims that Doherty will perform at the same venue again, tonight (May 1).
Doherty’s next gig in the UK will be at Hyde Park with The Libertines following news of their reunion last week. The band will headline the British Summer Time festival at London’s Hyde Park on July 5. Speaking to NME, Doherty revealed he stands to make £500k from the gig.
Since the announcement of their reunion and live plans, both Doherty and Barât have said that the band will play warm-up gigs prior to appearing at Hyde Park. Pete Doherty said: “There’ll be a warm-up, and there might be a free one for people who can’t get into Hyde Park, maybe.” There is also talk of new material.
