Former Libertines man also admits he had an affair with Charlotte Gainsbourg
Pete Doherty has told NME that he will be entering rehab at the end of this month.
The singer, who has battled drug addiction throughout the last decade, confirmed that he is currently using heroin and crack cocaine and will be seeking treatment for this soon.
Speaking in an exclusive interview which you can read in the new issue of NME, available on UK newsstands and digitally now, Doherty said: “I thought you might be interested to know that I’m booked to go into rehab at the end of April.”
Earlier in the interview, Doherty had been fairly candid about his drug use, revealing that he found it “difficult to score” in Paris, but that when he did buy heroin, it was “really good stuff”.
The singer also spoke about his relationship with actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, with whom he shot the film Confessions of a Young Contemporary, and revealed that the two had been romantically involved.
He said of this: “(It was) off set. But on set there were these love scenes. The only problem was those love scenes appeared before we actually made love in real life.”
Doherty added that the actress had left her partner for him, but that the romance only lasted four days and she returned to Paris soon after, saying: “She left her fella and moved to London… but put it this way, she was back in Paris four days later. I think the lifestyle I was living at the time, she wasn’t accustomed to.”
