SMOOTH REUNION CRUSHED BY ROCK

The legendary hiphop producer says it's not going to happen...

Legendary hiphop producer PETE ROCK has been speaking exclusively to NMEHIPHOP.COM to quash rumours concerning his highly anticipated reunion with CL SMOOTH.

The duo, whose 1992 album ‘Mecca and The Soul Brother’ has become a classic, featuring ‘They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y)’ and ‘Straighten’ It Out’, disbanded in 1995 following their last release together was ‘The Main Ingredient’ in 1994. But expectations that they’d record together again have proved to be premature.

“Everyone is talking about it and the media is hyping it up, but CL hasn’t come to the table to talk about anything, so I don’t think it’s gonna happen,” he said.

“Also, a lot has happened between us in the past. We never really regained our friendship after that,” added Pete. However the pair briefly linked up for ‘Da Two’ on Pete’s 1998 solo album ‘Soul

Survivor’.

Rock added: “It went back to how it was. I don’t really wanna speak on it ‘cos I haven’t heard from him. My thing is, just leave it alone until he surfaces.”
