Pete Tong is set to launch his first ever US tour in support of his ESSENTIAL series, which was launched stateside in May.
Although it is Tong‘s inaugural tour, he said he believes American fans are familiar with his name through the Essential series which prior to its debut, sold healthily through imports.
Radio 1 dance legend Tong said: “The brand obviously has some credibility internationally. through the web and through time – ten years of being on the radio, and through importing records. The world’s a smaller place everyday and my name is known even though I’m not really know as a DJ cos I’m not there.”
The tour will call at:
Las Vegas Club Ra (September 27) Seattle Last Supper Club (28) San Francisco 1015 Fulsom (29) Los Angeles Giant (30) Washington DC Nation (October 4) Boston MA Axis (5) New York Twilo (6) Miami FL Space (7)
Tong‘s show at New York City superclub Twilo, which boasts residencies by DJs Sasha, John Digweed, Adam Freeland and Carl Cox, will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 on October 6th.
Speaking about the American dance scene Tong is looking to make Essential a part of, he said: “I think the sort of club culture as we know it in England and Europe is really for the first time taking a grip in America. It’s seriously happening. You might not see it on every street corner but you can just feel it.”
