Pharrell Williams to release children’s book inspired by hit single ‘Happy’

Artist has signed four-book deal with Putnam Books for Young Readers

Pharrell Williams will release a children’s book inspired by his hit single ‘Happy’.

The Grammy Award-winning artist has signed a deal with Putnam Books for Young Readers to release four books, the first of which is inspired by ‘Happy’. The book will be published on September 22 with Billboard reporting that Happy will feature children from around the world “celebrating what it means to be happy.”

In September 2014 ‘Happy’ was named as the UK’s most downloaded track of all time. Data from the Official Charts Company revealed that the song has been downloaded 1.62 million times since its release. The track, which was used on the soundtrack to the film Despicable Me 2, went to Number one upon its release in November 2013

Meanwhile, Pharrell appeared as a special guest in an episode of The Simpsons earlier this month (February 8).

In his first cameo on the show, the musician sported his signature hat as he launched into a rendition of ‘Happy’. As a result, Pharrell was kicked out of Springfield and headed for nearby town Shelbyville.

Snoop Dogg recently announced that he will release his Pharrell Williams-produced new album ‘Bush’ in March.
