Meanwhile, it was recently confirmed that Pharrell’s ‘Happy’ is the biggest selling single in the UK so far in 2014, according to Official Charts Company data.

The song, originally released in summer 2013 as part of the soundtrack, has sold 1.42m copies in the UK already this year. In September, the song was revealed as the most downloaded track of all time by UK music fans.

The success of ‘Happy’ follows Pharrell’s similarly huge singles ‘Blurred Lines’ with Robin Thicke, and Daft Punk collaboration ‘Get Lucky’. All three singles sold over one million copies in the UK in less than a year, a sales feat only previously matched by The Beatles.
