Producer and artist will release first solo album in eight years next month
Pharrell Williams has announced details of his new album ‘G I R L’, due for release on March 3.
The album is Williams’ first solo effort since 2006’s ‘In My Mind’ and will feature the producer and performer’s Number One single ‘Happy’. A video promoting the album, in which Pharrell is seen recording the LP and shedding a tear, can be seen above. Williams will be performing at tonight’s (February 19) Brit Awards at London’s O2 Arena with Nile Rodgers.
Speaking earlier this year, Pharrell revealed he wants to reunite the Gallagher brothers for a collaboration. The singer said he wants to bring the estranged siblings back together and work with them.
“Who wouldn’t want to work with the Gallaghers? Yeah, both of them,” Pharrell said. Williams also said that he wants to work with Elton John. “I really respect Elton John’s music and I’d love to do something with him,” said Williams, who named his son Rocket after the singer’s 1972 hit ‘Rocket Man’.
Speaking about other people he would like to work with, Williams revealed: “I would love to do a whole album with Stevie Wonder. That would be amazing. He doesn’t need me, but it’d be amazing.” The pair performed together with Daft Punk and Nile Rogers at the Grammys.
