HOWE’S GOT IT COVERED!

The alt.country godfather gets his famous pals to contribute to 'Cover Magazine'...

Alt.country Godfather HOWE GELB has hooked up with PJ Harvey and members of Grandaddy on his new album, ‘COVER MAGAZINE’, set for release in March.

The album features Gelb and his Giant Sand co-members Joey Burns and John Convertino, (founders of desert country rockers Calexico), covering tracks by artists who have influenced them. Included amongst the acts to get the Giant Sand once over are Black Sabbath, Johnny Cash, Nick Cave and Neil Young.

The final three tracks on the album, due to appear on March 18, were recorded live during the spring 2001 Giant Sand tour of Europe.

Gelb was last in the UK in November, when he curated a night at the London Barbican as part of the Beyond Nashville Festival. Artists who performed on the night included PJ Harvey, Kurt Wagner from Lambchop, Evan Dando and Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse.
