Flu forces Polly to pull out of opening dates of US tour...

PJ HARVEY has been forced to pull out of a number of dates supporting U2 at the beginning of the North American leg of their Elevation World Tour.

The singer/songwriter is suffering from flu and is set to miss dates kicking off with the tour first night at Fort Lauderdale in Florida on Saturday (March 24).

However, a spokesperson for Harvey told NME.COM today (March 21) that she hopes to be fit to join the tour on their fifth night in Houston, Texas in 12 days’ time (April 2).

There has been no announcement yet as to a temporary substitute.

U2‘s North American tour, criss-crossing both the US and Canada runs for 49 dates.

The band then head to Europe with an opening night in Copenhagen on July 6, before kicking off eight sold-out nights in the UK at Manchester’s Evening News Arena on August 11.
