Plan B announces one-off London show – ticket details

Ben Drew to play Café De Paris on January 20

Plan B has announced plans of a one-off London show at the Café De Paris on January 20.

The show will see the rapper preview new album ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’, released on March 22, which is a collection of soul songs that tell the story of a singer who finds fame but loses everything when he ends up in prison for a crime he did not commit.

“He’s a version of me, an alter-ego,” Plan B, real name Ben Drew, explained. “This guy Strickland Banks is obsessed with the ’60s and dresses like he’s a Motown star, so if I came on stage wearing a hood it would confuse people.”

For the show fans are encouraged to come smartly dressed, with Drew revealing that his entire band will also be “suited up”.

“Every motherfucker in my band is going to be wearing trilbies,” Drew declared. “This is like a film man. Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to rap for as long as I can rap, but singing soul just feels the right thing to do now. This is who I am.”
