Musician previously suffered a heart attack in July 2014

Primus drummer Tim Alexander has revealed he is “doing well” after suffering a second heart attack.

The 51-year-old musician, known to fans as “Herb’, previously suffered a heart attack in July 2014. He recovered in time to join the long-running US rock band on tour that October.

In a pair of Instagram posts shared over the weekend, Alexander told fans that his second heart attack, which occurred “the other day”, had taken him by surprise.

“I did not think this could happen after having a triple bypass almost exactly 2 years ago,” Alexander wrote in his first post. “I was overwhelmed with sadness, not because of the fact that I could die but that I would have to say goodbye to my family.”

Alexander continued: “It can happen at any moment, and remember IT WILL HAPPEN ONE DAY so tell the people in your life you love them. Enjoy the days you have with them, they are limited. We are all here for a short time.”

In a second post, he then reassured fans that he is now on the mend, writing: “Thank you all for the love. I am home and doing well. Just taking it easy.”
