Funk rockers playing Manchester and London shows in June

Primus have announced their first UK shows for 14 years, plus plans to release a new album.

The California funk rockers last played the UK in June 1997, but will return this summer to play two gigs. The first is booked for the Manchester Academy on July 12, with the other set for London‘s O2 Academy Brixton on July 13.

The group have been cited by Muse, Incubus and Deftones as an influence. However, they are perhaps best known, in the UK at least, as the composers of the South Park theme song. Listen to it by scrolling down and clicking below.

The band, who were originally together from 1984 to 2000, reformed in 2003 but haven’t released an album since 1999’s ‘Antipop’. They have said that a new album will be out this summer to accompany the shows.

Tickets go on sale on Friday (February 11) at 9am (GMT). To check the availability of Primus tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.
