Public Enemy announce deluxe reissues of two classic albums

Both sets will boast original LPs plus a disc of rarities

Public Enemy are preparing to release deluxe reissues of ‘It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back’ and ‘Fear Of A Black Planet’.

As Fact Magazine points out, both albums will be released as two-disc sets featuring the original LPs and a bonus CD of rare mixes. ‘It Takes A Nation Of Millions…’ will also come with a DVD of the previously out-of-print 1989 VHS release ‘Fight The Power… Live’.

Additionally, each set will include a booklet featuring new linear notes penned by The Roots drummer Questlove (‘It Takes A Nation Of Millions…’) and Wax Poetics magazine editor-in-chief Andre Torres (‘Fear Of A Black Planet’).

The reissues will help mark the 30th anniversary of Public Enemy’s former label Def Jam Recordings, the one-time home of fellow hip-hop greats such as Beastie Boys, LL Cool J and Slick Rick, among others.

Public Enemy’s second album ‘It Takes A Nation of Millions…’ was original released in 1988, with ‘Fear of a Black Planet’ arriving two years later. The reissues are due out on November 24 and December 8 respectively.
