Band will reunite with Nick Oliveri for Halloween show in LA
Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has joked he’d rather drive his car over a cliff than listen to One Direction.
The rocker made the comments in a video produced for MTV’s Relentless Ultra presents Soundchain.
When interviewer Zane Lowe comments on his family music policy, saying he allows his children to listen to whatever they like, Homme reveals a more hardline stance.
Lowe comments: “I refuse to be a musical snob at this point with my kids, you know what I mean, if they wanna listen to One Direction, go for it, man.”
Homme replies: “Yeah, I mean, that’s not necessarily my direction. I try to shy it away to a different direction because I have to drive the car too. And like, do you want it to go over a cliff or do you want it to go to school? You decide – you’re eight!”
Homme also reveals that his daughter is a fan of Metronomy and that Dean Martin is a family favourite.
Former Queens Of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri yesterday confirmed he will rejoin his old band for a six-song encore set during their Halloween show at The Forum in Los Angeles (October 31).
He added that whether or not he ever records with the band again is entirely the decision of frontman Josh Homme.
Speaking to NME, Oliveri said: “Josh asked me to come up and do six songs with Queens, like an encore set. A reunion, but not a reunion. I’m going to get up and play some bass and sing some songs at the end of the show. It should be an interesting night.”
