Elvis Perkins, Ra Ra Riot for New York charity event

Performance is at Housing Works Bookstore on September 2

Elvis Perkins is set to perform a special charity event in New York City, set to take place on September 2.

Ra Ra Riot will DJ the event which will benefit Montreal‘s Yellow Bird Project and Housing Works and will take place at Housing Works Bookstore Café in celebration of the release of the Indie Rock Coloring Book.

Yellow Bird Project is a Montreal-based non-profit initiative started in 2006 that has worked with musicians such as Bon Iver, The Shins, Joseph Arthur, The National and more, to create T-shirts designed by the musicians to benefit a number of charities.

The project’s latest venture is the ‘Indie Rock Coloring Book’, which features drawings and activity pages created by graphic artist Andy J Miller that are inspired by and approved by the musicians who have worked with the organisation.

The first 25 people who show up wearing a Yellow Bird Project T-shirt will get a free copy of the coloring book, due out in September on Chronicle Books.

Tickets to the event are $15 with all proceeds to benefit Yellow Bird Project and its network of charities, and Housing Works, the nation’s largest community-based AIDS services organisation.
