ROCKERS IN THE OAKENFOLD MIX

The superstar DJ remixes the acts on a new compilation album...

Superstar DJ PAUL OAKENFOLD has remixed U2, RADIOHEAD and MUSE on a new compilation album set for release just ahead of the upcoming Ibiza season.

U2‘s chart topper ‘Beautiful Day’, Muse‘s ‘New Born’ and ‘Idioteque’ from Radiohead‘s ‘Kid A’ get the Perfecto boss’s treatment.

It is not the first time Oakenfold has worked with U2, having previously nudged them into the UK Top Ten in 1992 with his re-assembly of ‘Even Better Than The Real Thing’. He also joined the Irish supergroup on their Zoo TV World Tour as official DJ.

Oakenfold has also tried his hand at reworking Radiohead‘s material. Last year he remixed ‘Street Spirit (Fade Out)’ from the band’s ‘The Bends’ album. Sources close to Radiohead intimated at the time that the five-piece thought little of his version and it was never sanctioned for any official release. It is unclear what they make of his interpretation of ‘Idioteque’.

The album, ‘Perfecto Presents Paul Oakenfold In Ibiza’, will be released on July 23.

Oakenfold himself marks the Perfecto residency at the Pacha Club in Ibiza with headlining nights on June 26 and July 3. The season continues on each Tuesday through the summer, finishing when Oakenfold and Hernan Cattaneo host the closing night on September 11.

The DJ is also responsible for the soundtrack to John Travolta’s new film ‘Swordfish’, which went to number one in the US box office on opening last weekend (June 8).
